This week we learned related rates. When Mr. Cresswell explained how to solve these questions, it looked somewhat easy but complicated. While doing some examples in a group, I found that it was not as easy as I thought. A tough question was "HELP I am falling. How fast am I falling 3 seconds after I start falling off a food ladder?" It was so long and hard to interpret for me. Though those questions took long time, they were fun and realistic. Finally, wee can apply what we have learned for three months to real life questions or math!
The key point or what I struggled with is to make sure that I am finding what the question asks. When all of us did the question below together, we were finding the rates at which the radius changed while the question asked the rates at which the height changed. We had to go back to the first part and set up a new equation to solve for r and to include only height. Not to waste time, we should not forget what we are trying to find.
My participation was not bad. And we did not do any CCC this week as well. I need to review on the related rates to prepare for the quiz next week. I really hope questions on the quiz next Tuesday are not hard to interpret for me!!
